Children’s chemistry book banned

It’s Banned Books week! Did you know that The Golden Book of Chemistry Experiments, written for children in the 1960’s, was banned for being too accurate? Read more here: Banned Book Awareness

Celebrate Banned Books Week by reading a banned book. Just remember your safety glasses!

New- Chemistry reference items may now be checked out for 1 week

We realize that closing the chemistry library has been inconvenient for many of you, so I am pleased to announce that you will now be permitted to check out reference items which were located in the chemistry library for a period of 1 week. This is a temporary situation, which will be extended until we are able to relocate the items to their permanent location at the Library of Science and Medicine. You may request reference materials as you would any other book, selecting your desired pick up location. You will receive an e-mail when your item is ready to be picked up, and when you arrive at the library to check it out the circulation staff will charge it out to you for 7 days.

I hope this makes things a little easier for you. Please let me know if I can help you get the resources you need.

~Laura

New electronic resources in Chemistry

We have added the following resources to the online chemistry collection:

Wiley e-journal backfiles for Chemistry

Chemistry library closes August 30

The chemistry library is closed, but the collection is still available for your use. This Labor Day weekend, the Libraries will be working on re-cataloging these items, and after a brief down time the collection will be available for book or article delivery. You may select any library as your pick up location.

Thanks to all who attended our little reception at the Chemistry library. I enjoyed meeting you, and hearing your concerns for the chemistry collection. Please keep sending me your suggestions for future acquisitions of reference materials, journals, or books.

As always, please contact me at laura.palumbo@rutgers.edu with any questions or suggestions.

Chemistry Library reception

Please join us at the Chemistry library on Wednesday, August 28, from 2:00-3:30 to commemorate the relocation of the chemistry collection. Light refreshments will be served! I will be available to answer any questions you have about accessing research materials. I look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome!
